Hello! Iβm Natalie Jayne
AUstraliaN ABSTRACT ARTIST
Ever since I was little, creativity has been my constant companion. Whether itβs scribbling on scrap pieces of paper, painting by numbers, colouring in books or basically anything I could get my hands on β creating art has always been my happy place.
Art has always been such a huge part of my identity β and over time it has become my sanctuary, and my way of connecting with the world. Creating art always rejuvenates me, and every time someone connects with my work, every time one of my pieces finds a new home, it's a reminder that this journey, with all its ups and downs, is truly worth it.
My Story
Throughout my school years, creating art was where I felt most comfortable, and itβs a career path I felt I always wanted to pursue. However, after finishing school I got swept up in the proper βadultβ priorities of a full-time job and setting myself up for my future. Life became busy and the time I devoted to art slipped further away.
Ever since having my son, creating art has returned to being such a meaningful part of my identity. As with many new mothers, I found in those early years that I had lost myself a bit in motherhood. However, I discovered that even if I just used the small pockets of time when he was napping to create art, I was able to begin reconnecting with my true self.
It has also been really special to share my love of art with my son. One of my favourite memories from when he was little is the many chalk drawings we did together outside, starting on the ground and quite often when there was no room left we would move up onto the brick walls.
Seeing his face light up when we were creating together brought so much joy, and helped reinforce just how much joy being creative brings to me.
With art firmly as my anchor, and now feeling reconnected with my identity, in 2020 I decided to bravely put myself and my art out into the world. I started by sharing little joyful and colourful pieces of my art journey on Instagram, not just to showcase my work, but to connect, chat, and remind myself that I wasn't in this alone.
As my business has expanded in recent years, I have been fortunate to have incredible opportunities to exhibit my art through the local Artisan Society and an annual showcase at a local cafΓ©. Through the success of each of these experiences, it hit me: I've got something to say, a story to share, and there are folks out there who want to hear it.

DRAWING STRENGTH FROM STORIES & MEMORIES
Iβm always fascinated and feel very honoured when people choose to share their stories with me.
The power of a single item or a fleeting scent to transport someone back to a cherished memory is magical.
Flowers, in particular, resonate with me and remind me of many memories especially my nan's garden in England, filled with roses and wildflowers.

FINDING BEAUTY IN TRANSFORMATION
Nature has always been my muse. Just like a butterfly, I often find myself retreating into my creative cocoon, only to emerge with a piece that I hope captures the intricate beauty of transformation. The vibrant hues of flowers, the calming waves of the beach, and the resilience of greenery β they all inspire me in unique ways. Nature's ever-changing canvas is a gentle reminder that there's beauty in every stage of growth and change.

CONNECTION & COMMUNITY
For me, art is more than just colours on a canvas; it's a way to forge genuine connections. I've always believed in the power of art to evoke deep emotions and cherished memories, often without the need for words. The intricate details in my work, the burst of colours, and the authenticity I pour into each piece are my way of reaching out, hoping to touch a chord in someone's heart. Through my creations, I wish to inspire others to dive into their own world of creativity, to believe in themselves, and to see the world with a fresh perspective.
Curious about my style?
Art, for me, is a way to unjumble the thoughts and ideas that often crowd my mind. The act of sketching, scribbling, and creating brings a sense of calm and peace. I'm particularly drawn to alcohol inks for their unpredictability and the mesmerizing patterns they form. They're runny dye based inks that, when dried, create stunning patterns and textures.
The way these inks blend and transform right before your eyes is a sight to behold. Sometimes, I leave them as they are, captivated by the natural designs they form. Other times, I cut up the dried pieces to craft intricate collages, layering them with resin to achieve a glass-like finish. Each piece I create often evolves from a simple sketch into a vibrant artwork, based on my emotions, memories, and stories.
